The Jeep® Patriot and Jeep Compass were both popular with the Norfolk drivers served by Hall Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Virginia Beach. So we were surprised when FCA US LLC announced that both were on the chopping block. We were relieved when news soon followed that both Jeep crossovers would be replaced by the 2017 Jeep Compass. It comes with an all-new design that fits drivers as comfortably as it fits into the 2017 Jeep lineup.

The 2017 Jeep Compass is based on the Jeep Renegade platform, just a little bit longer. The resemblance ends there, since the only other thing it shares with the Jeep Renegade or either of the crossovers it's replacing is the trademark seven-slot Jeep grille. Its looks, inside and out, otherwise borrow heavily from the 2017 Jeep Cherokee and 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The redesigned interior reinforces the more refined ride the 2017 Jeep Compass offers. Advanced technology abounds, including active safety features and an information display nestled among the gauges. As we've come to expect, there's also off-road capability in the form of the Trailhawk trim. Equipped with low-range gear settings that give a 20:1 crawl ratio, off-road tires, raised suspension, and the ability to take on steep terrain, it's proof that the Jeep brand can still take you far from the beaten path.
