The 2018 Jeep® Wrangler has been the stuff of rumor and speculation for nearly two years. Just revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show, it’s due soon at Hall Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Virginia Beach. Portsmouth SUV shoppers are about to be treated to the best version of the Jeep Wrangler we’ve seen yet.

The staff at Road and Track have an extensive write-up on this new Jeep SUV. There’s more to know than we have room for here, so we’ll just recap some of the highlights.

It starts with the new design, which looks smaller than the outgoing model even though it’s actually bigger all around. The use of aluminum body panels cuts down on weight, but other features — like revised suspension — are a reminder that even though the new Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will be quieter and better-mannered on the road, it’s still going to be downright fierce off-road machine.

The same models and trim levels return from last year. Even though the exterior looks much the same, the interior couldn’t be more different. This is the fanciest we’ve seen the Jeep Wrangler (even though the drain plugs are still there), and the redesigned dash with its infotainment system taking up prime real estate is quite welcome.

Among the new features:
Body-color roll bars
New deployment system for the roof and front windshield
Rearranged grab handles for improved visibility
Bigger windows
A new manual transmission
New safety features
Improved suspension

This year also sees the debut of the Jeep Wrangler pickup, while 2019 will see a diesel model and 2020 witnesses the arrival of a hybrid model.
